I encounter a lot of people carrying alcohol wipes/prep pads in their boo boo and FAK. I'm curious near options to replace these with Zeiss Lens Cleaning wipes to offer far more utility especially when it comes to on person acquit.
Hither is my personal cess:
Cost: Tie
-Zeiss $2.88 at my local Walmart for 50
-Prep pad $3.00 allover for 200
For something like this where I am not using thousands a year the divergence between 6 cents a unit and ii cents a unit of measurement are irrelevant to me.
Active Ingredient: Tie but maybe prep pads
The MSDS for the Zeiss wipes list 70% isopropyl alcohol every bit the only ingredient so it is the same as the alcohol prep pads I have seen. (edit: I can no longer find solid support that the Zeiss wipes are at lxx% w/westward isopropyl. See a couple of mail below for MSDS info)
Packed Size: Prep pad
The basic width and acme is more than or less the same but the prep pads are very thin. I would say information technology takes 4 prep pads to equal the thickness of a Zeiss wipe. However, the prep pad packages is VERY thin then 4x VERY thin notwithstanding makes the Zeiss Wipe package sparse.
Equally you can see in my hygiene kit with gum, Zeiss wipe, and floss stick it is nonetheless a dainty thin kit and easily fits into a credit card slot in my BigSkinny.
Application: Zeiss wipe +++
I'k not concerned almost the survivalist aspects of the alcohol wipes merely I experience the Zeiss wipe share many of the aforementioned properties in this regard. From my COMPLETELY UNEDUCATED and UNINFORMED (that is where you guys/gals come up in) the simply real good apply for the pre pads are to…well pre an surface area for an injection or claret draw. They are tiny and mildly abrasive strips of cotton.
The Zeiss has substantially more than surface area (well-nigh the size of my hand) and this leads also many more FAK/hygiene applications than the prep pads are suited for.
·Cleaning camera lens
oMy kid always finds a way to go his fingers on my point and shoot lenses and when out on the town this tin can mean the difference between a proficient pic and poo. This is what the product is designed to do and does a very adept job. A prep pad would not go anywhere well-nigh my lenses.
·Great full general lens/glass clearer
oGlasses, phones, monitors, laptops, mirrors… Where are surrounded by transparent textile and having these make clean but makes the day go past a picayune meliorate.
·Disinfectant wipes
oGiven their large size these work really well for cleaning all sorts of items that you would like to clean off and disinfect (hands, phone receiver, door knobs…) While I will be switching over to BZK wipes for my wallet FAK kit I don't see why these could non be used every bit a reasonable (if non a picayune painful) replacement, and given their size, easier to perform the job than the prep pad.
·Napkin
oThese work rather well as a towelet and have the added benefit of being antimicrobial.
Ok so that is the village idiots take on the subject…your thoughts?
